The team is based within connexions and has links with all the Personal Advisors, Halton Youth Service plus all other agencies that work with 13-19 year olds.

We work in the whole of Halton and offer a wide range of services.

We are none judgmental and can help you with all problems as we have heard most things to do with sex, pregnancy, parenting and relationships.

Being a parent is not always easy or straight forward. In Connexions we have 2 dedicated workers to help support you through pregnancy and being a parent.

  • Do you want to make plans for you and your family?
  • Would you like to meet other young parents?
  • Would you like to go to college or start training/ a job?… Free child care is available until you are 19 years of age.

Care to Learn is free child care funding for anyone who is at school or starting college before their 20th birthday. You can choose the nursery or child minder, complete the application form and Care to Learn directly pay the child care provider for you. You may also be entitled to travel expenses and they even pay for child care in term holidays.

TP2B (antenatal group)

12 weeks of activities about labour, delivery, paediatric first aid, breast and bottle feeding, money advice, contraception and much more. Phone for information about dates 0151 471 7440.

Runcorn – Halton lodge children’s centre, Grangeway 12.30-2.30pm

Young parent groups

Come and meet other parents in a friendly setting. Take part in positive play activities, information and advice sessions and meet Connexions and children’s centre workers.

Runcorn – ‘The Hub’, (Grangeway Youth & Community Centre), 1-3pm Monday
Widnes – Ditton Library (Opposite Quenns Ave shops), 11-1pm Friday

Sexual Health Outreach Workers

We offer group and one to one sessions, you can refer yourself or through an agency you are working with. Our main aim is to give in formation that helps you to have healthy relationships and reduce the risks of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies.

We try to encourage all people to regularly visit their nearest Sexual Health Clinic as infections do not always have any symptoms.

What can we do for you?
  • We provide C Card (free condom and lube service in Halton)
  • We carry out Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing
  • We carry out Pregnancy testing
  • We provide advice on the best contraception to meet your personal and medical needs
  • Raise awareness about STIs and can accompany you to the nearest sexual health clinic if you need a check up
  • We can offer advice and support around pregnancies
  • We will work with you on a 1-1 basis around relationships, including being in a healthy relationship, supporting each other, identifying an abusive relationship, and being a parent
  • If you are considering being a parent and would like to practice we have a Real Care baby. We will work together and explore all aspects of pregnancy and parenting. You will then be able to take the baby home and find out what it is like having a baby depend on you.
